CODE OF ETHICS AGREEMENT
MEMBERS HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO:
1. Treat everyone fairly within the context of their activity, regardless of gender, place of origin, color, sexual orientation, religion, political belief or economic status.
2. Direct comments or criticism at the activity rather than the person.
3. Consistently display high personal standards and project a favorable image when representing the PTO.
a. Refrain from public criticism of fellow volunteers, students and staff..
b. Abstain from the use of tobacco products while representing the PTO.
c. Abstain from drinking, possessing or be under the influence of alcoholic beverages while representing the PTO.
d. Abstain from the use or be under the influence of illegal drugs while representing the PTO.
e. Refrain from the use of profane, insulting, harassing or otherwise offensive language when representing the PTO.
f. Refrain from personal attack or harassment, either visual, verbal or physical on another person.
g. Attend to your duties, as directed, in a timely manner.
h. When posting on social media, refrain from insulting our school, school board, PTO board, teachers, students and parents.
MEMBERS MUST:
1. Act within the law.
2. Be honest and fair.
3. Observe confidentiality in respect of all information gained through your participation as a PTO Member.
4. Treat PTO members, volunteers, students, staff and community members with respect.
5. Respect the dignity of others; verbal or physical behaviors that constitute harassment or abuse are unacceptable.
Failure to abide by the BCE PTO Member Code of Conduct, will result in review by the PTO board and possible suspension or dismissal pending outcome.
CONFIDENTIALITY AGREEMENT
The goal of Bridge City Elementary PTO is to provide support to teachers and students in the school settings.
While a member of this organization, volunteers are subject to the same privacy and confidentiality laws as the teachers, staff and administrators.
You are expected to respect the right and privacy of all teachers, parents, visitors, volunteers, students and staff at all times.
Do not discuss, via any platform, confidential or problematic matters with anyone other than the appropriate parties such as teachers and administrators. Always adhere to the chain on command.
Please adhere to all rules regarding setting up a teacher conference. Class time should not be interrupted. For any situation requiring immediate attention or if you are unsure of how to handle a situation please contact the PTO President.
Parents, friends, or community members may in good faith ask you questions about a student's problems or progress. Again, you must refer all questions to the authorized school personnel. You may not share information about a student even with members of your own family or the student's family.
